Book Week

We are busy preparing for book week :-)

This week we have read the book Chip. Chip is a short listed book for the Children's Book of the Year Awards. It is a very cute book about a gull who loves Chips, until one day his favourite food was unavailable. Chip comes up with a plan to get his favourite food back on the menu.

Come into the middle room to see some of our beautiful artworks of Chip and his friends performing their air show.

News Week 7

It is so great to see so many students getting into the news topics. I have seen some wonderful maps of their dream playgrounds. They have enjoyed sharing it with the class and describing all the different features of their play ground.

Measuring length in Maths

This week we have been learning about length. We held a paper plane throwing competition to see who's plane could fly the furthest. It was fun measuring the length of each throw.

News

This week we have had some excellent examples of how technology has developed over time. Students were asked to bring in some older technology to show everyone for news. Have a look at some of the great items that kids found at home.

A huge thank you to Mr Hope who also came in and gave us a demonstration of some older telephones and video players. The kids loved seeing how they used to record movies and watch them.

Week 4 and 5 Award winners

Congratulations Ella, Brooke, Vance, Zac and Cade for receiving your awards over the last fortnight. Unfortunately I was sick in week 4 so we had a few extra this week.

A fun day in the city

On Wednesday Stage 1 traveled in to the city to visit The Australian Museum to take part in the wonderful Science Week activities they had organised.

It was a very early start to the day, to beat the morning traffic we had to be on the road at 7.30am. The bus trip was a highlight, very noisy though :-)

When we arrived we went straight into an exhibition all about Science. There were lots of stalls all about different aspects of science. The kids loved exploring them and even getting to take some things home.

After morning tea, we walked to the Grammar School to watch a Science show. It was an amazing show all about air, water and fire. It was a great show and the kids loved watching the different experiments.

We then moved to Hyde Park for a quick lunch, followed by another show all about sound and how sound travels.

It was an awesome day, the kids had a ball. The bus ride was a little quieter on the way home :-)
